Client onboarding
Five steps, about three weeks.
Changing accountants is easier than most people expect. Here is exactly what happens, and what we need from you at each stage.
- 01
Free consultation
Thirty minutes with a Chartered Accountant, by video or at either office. We ask about your structure, your current arrangements and what prompted the call. You leave knowing what we would do and roughly what it would cost, whether or not you engage us.
- 02
Proposal and engagement letter
A written proposal setting out the scope, the deliverables, who does the work and a fixed fee. Nothing starts until you have accepted it in writing. If the scope changes later, we re-quote before doing the work rather than after.
- 03
Ethical letter to your previous accountant
Professional standards require us to write to your outgoing accountant confirming there is no reason we should not act, and requesting your file. You do not need to have an awkward conversation. Most firms respond within two weeks.
- 04
Software and data access
We connect to your accounting file, set up secure document sharing and add ourselves as your registered tax agent with the ATO. Then we reconcile your opening balances against the file we received, and tell you about anything that does not agree.
- 05
Your first 90 days
A dated plan covering the immediate lodgements, anything overdue, and the first review of your structure. At day 90 we meet again to confirm the rhythm: what arrives monthly, what happens each quarter, and when we will next talk about planning rather than compliance.
