Professional fees
Priced before the work starts.
Fixed fees agreed in writing, so you know what an engagement costs before it begins rather than when the invoice arrives.
We quote in writing before any work begins, and we do not invoice for work you have not approved. Most engagements are a fixed fee. Where scope genuinely cannot be known upfront, we say so and estimate honestly.
Fixed-fee packages
Most engagements are a fixed monthly or annual fee covering an agreed scope: bookkeeping, BAS, payroll, year-end accounts and tax returns, and a set number of advisory sessions. You know the cost before the year starts and it does not move because a question took longer than expected.
Hourly engagements
Some work genuinely cannot be scoped in advance — an ATO review, a transaction that changes shape as it progresses, catch-up bookkeeping on a file nobody has seen. We bill those hourly against an estimate, tell you when we are approaching it, and stop rather than continue past it without asking.
What a fixed fee includes
- Preparation and lodgement of the returns and statements named in your engagement letter
- Reasonable telephone and email questions during the year, without a time entry for each one
- ATO correspondence relating to the lodgements we prepared
- An annual planning meeting before 30 June
- Access to your files through the client portal
What sits outside it
- Work outside the agreed scope, which is re-quoted before it starts
- ATO audits and formal reviews, which are quoted separately when they arise
- Catch-up or clean-up bookkeeping for periods before the engagement began
- Third-party costs such as ASIC fees, SMSF audit fees and quantity surveyor reports

Payment terms
Fixed-fee packages are billed monthly in advance by direct debit. Project and annual engagements are billed on completion unless the engagement letter says otherwise. Invoices are due within 14 days.
Fee from refund
For individual tax returns we can deduct our fee from your refund where you ask us to. A small administration charge applies, and we tell you the amount before you agree to it.
Changes to scope
If work falls outside the agreed scope we stop and re-quote. You will never receive an invoice for work you did not approve in writing.
